many GLBT people have values that correspond to peace, spreading diversity, acceptance of all people, and equality, yet, many of us will not be able to spread those messages to future generations because many GLBT people can't and don't have children to pass their beliefs on to?
Instead, messages of hate, biogtry, self-righteousness and superiority are being taught to children of (some) heterosexual parents, and THIS message will continue to live on throughout generations?
And what's even worse, is when those parents find out their kid is GLBT, they disown them, and that the government won't let us, GLBT people adopt them!!

I would GLADLY take a disowned GLBT child.

I think it is sad... Because in this way you only get to know about rejection and hate.. And when we are talking about teens, they are in this really sensitive age. Teens are more easily affected by behaviors of people surrounding them. Imagine a teen going through his/her doubt-fase being rejected by his own parents. The ones who must, no matter what, shelter, love, protect, advise and guide him/her through life..

It really hurts me sometimes, though I feel really ok with me being gay, that I will probably make no family.. Not because I can't, but because there is such legislation that makes really difficult for a single man, or a gay couple to adopt (in my country that is). I love children so much, and I would just do anything to have a child of my own, to watch it grow up day by day.. But keeping in mind legislation and "what people may say" it really holds me back..

Imagine that there are people, who are able to have kids and they reject them for various reasons instead of giving them love. Imagine that there are people, who abandon their babies just because it was an "accident" or they cannot support it.
Now imagine all those loving people that cannot have children for medical reasons, and GLBT people.. I know it may sound selfish or that the kid "cannot" grow with 2 moms or 2 dads.. But would not this kid be better off, than being out on the streets, or having his personality ruined by some unloving parents?

It is so sad indeed...

GLBT or straight,
a child is a child and needs love.
That is the ONLY reason you never see any GLBT people with children is because the government.

It's sad when people have to Hide their love in oreder to expand it.

Colorados laws still make it hard for singles and gays to adopt.

I see dozens of LGBT families with children every day. This is a lot more than I did, say, 20 years ago.
[I also live in SanFrancisco now, and not MA/NH, so that could be part of it also.]

I feel good that the world as a whole, and the US, is becoming more and more tolerant. These LGBT families and their children will help this.

Do I wish there were more of them? Yes.
Do I despair over it? No.

You can easily help fund a local gay boarding house to help these kids out.

But seriously where did you get the idea that gay=infertile? This is an outdated homophobic ideal.

GLBT persons may have fewer children, but we still breed, it's not impossible.

And we don't need to spread it to our kids, we need to spread it through the communities we find ourselves in.

You can't change the world by changing your kids. But you can change the world, and that'll change your kids.

Yes, I do think it's very sad indeed. Makes me sometimes worry about the future of humanity. If it's one thing I can't stand it's bigotry; too often I don't think how they realize how much they hurt people with their cruel comments.

I wish there was more people like you, the world would be a better place.

It's very sad, though fortunately, kids are exposed to a much broader range of ideas and cultures than even just a few years ago, and it has managed to undo much of the damage caused by our violent, hateful, closed-minded predecessors.

We can adopt, foster, and teach children. Most states will let us adopt. My wife teaches middle school kids gymnastics, and I tutor kids. She's fostered a throwaway lesbian teen, and I sheltered a throwaway bi teen for a few weeks, and we'd like to do it again.

Remember too that children rebel and have influences outside their parents. Be nice. Teach them how to pitch or fix a car or draw a picture. Smile at them. They'll get it.

Life is full of choices. You have to make them wisly as the choices you make have consenquences.

And calling others names when they don't agree with your choices shows your hate, biogtry, self-righteousness or superiority.

And hate is not something that lacks in the gay community.
