Lifting weights is the best way. Start with low weights and move up. Try a weight that you can lift comfortably 8 times w/o stopping (1 set of 8 reps). When you can do 2 sets of 12 reps add 5-10% more weight.

lift weights...and start with some you can easily lift for a few repititions...then gradually move up to the heavier weights. You should only lift about 2-3 days a week and cardio excercise 3-5 days a week. Alternating the days is good.

Lift weights.
Don't exercise the same muscles every day. If you want to work out everyday, alternate the muscle groups you work on each day.
If you're just starting out, a trainer or coach can show you how much weight you can lift safely, proper techniques so you get the maximum benefit and don't hurt yourself, and different exercises for different muscle groups.

Eat protein. Do some weight lifting every other day. Run on the days you don't lift. Also do some push-ups and sit-ups. You will begin seeing a difference in about a week or so.

Weight training.
Start out light, stretch before, drink plenty of water
You should give a day's rest after weight trining to give your muscles a chance to heal.
One day on, one day off
