Is it a good read?

The Children of Hurin is a great read for any Tolkien fan, though the fan of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings should expect a tale that is far darker than either of those.

Pieces of this tale appeared in The Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales, but never in complete form, and never without constant breaks for editorial commentary. I think that this is they way the story should have published right from the beginning...in full form, without editorial breakups.

CoH is a very fast-paced, heroic novel that is set in Middle-earth 6500 years before the events in Lord of the Rings. There is a great article on the book at the site below.

Yes, a sort of interesting view on Middle Earth and Turin a warrior rather than a meek little hobit. I've mixed views on it. But I'm glad I read it.
