I bought a lighting kit to make videos but the light is so strong that smoke comes out of it. Is it dangerous? What happens if i leave it on for too long? Will it burn? I tested it 4 times and every time after about 1 minute the smoke started. I just bought it. The light is 1000 Watts. It's a professional kit.

Yikes! You know the old saying, "Where there's smoke, there's fire". I certainly wouldn't leave the room with it on, if I were you.

The first thing I would do is to wipe the bulb and area next to the bulb with alcohol. When you reinstall the bulb, do not get any fingerprints on it. The oil in your hand will cause the bulb to blow quicker, since it will fry the oil.

After doing all this, plug it back in and see if it still smokes, give it about 5 minutes to stop if it starts. I'm sure there is some oil that was used in the manufacture of the light and that is what's burning. If it continues to smoke, you will need to figure out what and why it is smoking. good luck

like fordman said, clean the bulb.

I've done some lighting for small productions. the bulbs are not supposed to be touched. they get VERY hot. you install them with a cloth or paper. the oil from your hands will leave residue of the bulb and makes it heat at a different rate than the rest of the bulb and they'll actually blow up (mostly they fracture and burn out).

clean it with an ammonia cleaner, dry it well, DON'T TOUCH IT WITH YOUR BARE FINGERS and reinstall it.
