It is a 1955-D 25c(quarter) MS-66 National Numismatic Certification...The coin is in a like hard case thing.. I bought a jewelry box at a yard sale and this was in it, can anyone tell me about it?

the value ranges anywhere from $2 to 6.99 depending on condition,thats a retail price so if you went to sell it expect 1/2 of that

National Numismatic Service is not one of the top rated grading services. They also won't back there grading service with any guaranty. That being the case the MS-66 (mint state- 66) is a questionable grade. The 1955-D actually had a low mintage for the time period it was minted (3,182,400) most were at least over 6 million and up. If indeed it grades that high then it retails for around $65.00 and you would get 40 to 50 % less from a dealer. I can find no dealer prices on it. There may have been a lot saved for people noticed it's low mintage. Hope I have helped some here. It is worth holding on too.
