The Italian (cultural) Renaissance (and its successors in other countries), was made possible in large part because of growing economic prosperity of And this was due to a number of advances, and esp to growing TRADE. How did this happen? The interactions with the Islamic world, including the Crusades played a large part. See the following articles for details:

Do note that the Italian Renaissance was mainly a CULTURAL thing --and in some ways overrated. The great advances in learning (esp. the sciences) were actually more due to the Renaissance of the TWELFTH century (High Middle Ages), and the growth to the university system in Europe. (Thus, by the way, it was not humanism but Christian scholarship that got it all going.)

The Renaissance introduce a lot of new ideas to the world, and trade allowed these new ideas, as well as art, fashion and architecture to spread to areas outside it's origin. Without trade, each innovation would have remained a localized idea and it's unlikely that Europe would have changed much during that time.

Trade increased the wealth of merchants and princes. This made it possible to employ artists. The artists produced great works of painting and sculpture that embellished the churches and palaces of Italy, and then other countries like Spain, France, etc. For instance, there is a small "Mother & Child" by Michaelangelo in "Our Church of Our Lady" in Bruge, Belgium that was brought there by a merchant. Also merchant families like the Medici in Florence, Italy were able to get rich by banking and trade. They were wonderful patron of the arts. I hope this has been a help to you.

During this time, and most others, trade was vital for every country. This meant they could make money on what they produced and they could buy what other countries sold to them. This is how all countries obtained spices which were NOT indictive to their region.
