I would love to read your story if you give it a go. Contact me if you decide it's what you want, please :-).

Well yes I do think you should. Everyone has a hidden talent, and maybe you didn't wake yours just yet. I'm sure your very intelligent as your being honest to yourself but also you see the flaws in your writing like most authors do not notice, or don't want to.

Maybe before you write you should get a large peice or paper, and figure out your plot and write it down. Then you should write down little info about your book or things you should remember when writing. Like put your characters name, how they act or if they will fall in love- or like- a certain type of damsil. Then get another peice of paper and script "Chapter One" onto it for you might as well map it out. Write down the first event that is to happen in chapter one, like where your character is- and put it into a bubble at the top of the page. Then connect another bubble onto that that will lead you onto another event, like a monster appears.

It really all depends on you. If you're willing to be a serious author and not take this as a game then you might as well give it a go and put all your effort into it. If you wish to seek further help then please contact me: you'll find out how in my profile.

Good luck,
Katie

I am writing a book myself, also an autobiography, so I understand some of your problems.

I would suggest you do what I did, I took some creative writing classes.

They teach you a lot of tools for how to write, get ideas, how to word things, and also give you confidence that you can do it.

Sometimes, I just grab a pen and just start writing, not paying attention to grammar, punctuation or spelling, and do it for as long as I can go. Then I reread it, and try to put it into categories, and then sentences, and then I have a couple of pages that turn out pretty good.

I always have a friend read my pages to make sure that they don't need more explanation, or if something just doesn't sound right, then I go over those areas until I feel really good about them and then the next day do it all over again on a different topic.

Don't give up, it's a lot of fun once you get a hang of it.

Good Luck!

Is there something you do well? If so, why not build on your strengths rather than struggle against the obstacles of a field that is difficult even for the dedicated and talented?

On the other hand, if you are a natural storyteller, why not team up with a writer who has good writing skills but falls short of story ideas. There are many good writing teams who do well. They may not rise to the level of "great writers" and may not make fortunes by their writing, but they do enjoy what they do.

I'd suggest reading a long list of the greatest books ever written.

Then, I'd set myself to writing, but I'd make a point to embrace exactly how much I suck.

I mean really, really go with sucking at writing. Swim around in it; revel in my awful.

There might be a chance that in diving down to the bottom of suckage it might come full circle and become awesome.

Besides, if you practice a lot, there tends to a come some magic day where all the sudden you become able to say what you want, how you want.

But, I'd also ditch the 'brave and faithful knight' thing, unless by that you mean 'singer in a metal band'.

Take this kindly. When we are young, we commonly run out of ideas, our life experience is brief, and sustained output rapidly depletes the memory bank. When you become an older know-it-all, words will flow, as your hard disk overflows, you will become verbose. Prose seems unsuitable for younger readers, who prefer the simple approach, most like TV soaps, or the dreadful Dan Brown. Good Luck.

If you are an awful writer, why would you think you could write a book?
You don't even know what an autobiography is. It is YOUR story. Are you a valiant knight?

Don't waste your time if you can't write. Publishing is a hyper competitive field and some highly talented writers fail to get published. So try another art. Take test to find out what you have a natural gift for, maybe you have a talented musical ear but never knew.

You do realize that all novels are, by definition, written in prose, right? No, of course you don't, because I doubt you even read. You're another wannabe who thinks all writers are millionaires and you want to cash in. Well, newsflash. For every Stephen King there are ten thousand struggling authors with REAL talent, and you just insulted every one of them with your ridiculous post.

You cannot write a biography based on fiction for one thing. Why would you want to write if you know you can't do it? Find something that you really enjoy doing, and you will be better at it.
