Well, it all depends on which laptop you are going to get. If you are getting a Macbook, you will not have a choice on what type of screen you get--it will have a 13.3" glossy widescreen. If you get a MacBook Pro, you can get either a Matte or glossy finish. The matte finish is probably better if you are going to be working outside a lot or if you are going to be in an area with bright lights because there will not be as much glare from the sreen. The benefit of the glossy screen is that the colors appear more vivid, which is good if you are going to be watching a lot of movies. So, I guess it all comes down to what you are going to do with the computer--if you are going to use it outdoors, you should probably get a matte screen...if you are going to watch movies on it, then the glossy screen will be better. If possible, you should go and look at the screens in person at an Apple store or a store that sells Apple laptops; that should help you make your decision. Hope this helps...

The argument lives on. Allow me to teach you buzzwords: "plasma" (glossy) versus "LCD" (not). Some say the "plasma" has a wider field-of-view, meaning, you can see it better when you walk farther around to the edge. Like, for my large (48-inch) plasma TV, you can walk around to two inches toward the front, from the edge, and still see the picture purdy well. But then, who cares, with a computer?

Some say, arteests favor the plasma screen for its greater graphic quality, and its greater ability to render a photo.

Then, there's the idea that, if you happen to rub your finger across the screen, the plasma screen will quickly show your fingerprint! The LCD screen will be kind, and won't *show* your fingerprint quite as much. (The LCD screen is a bit more textured...)

So far as I know...and I have one of each...both types have about equal stamina! So, go to the store, *stare* long and hard, and take yer pick!
