Well freedom of speech and the Constitutional right and duty to speak out if you are displeased with government.
Also it is supposed to be the PERSON who brings respect to the office...not the office that brings respect to the person.
Now I am not a Bush fan and want him gone but I would not go this far and call him a chimp. However, the true source to blame is not the people who say it but Bush who has brought such shame upon his office that there are people who feel this way.

It's a matter of class. Since they seem to lack such, they resort to name calling. I can honestly say that I never called President Clinton names out of disrespect. I was raised better than that. I was not, and am not a Clinton fan, but I have enough class to not throw out ugly remarks about the sitting President of The United States.
It all comes down to class and character, or a lack of the like.

Clinton is over and finished with. Bush is right here and now and we are in a war that we are no longer winning; Bush says in November that we are winning and in December we are no longer winning - have faith me, calling him a liar is with regard to the main polite factor we are able to assert approximately that. EDIT - for sure it mattered that Clinton lied below oath to dodge prosecution for harassment; it additionally concerns that i pass 70 in a 50 mph zone mutually as a pair of different individuals are committing armed theft or shooting a bunch of individuals in a production unit.

I have the utmost respect for the Office of the Presidency, however the current occupant has not earned any. Respect is something that MUST be EARNED not automatically given because of a title.

yes, theres a big difference between resepct for the highest office and respect for the man who is working in and running that office. i don't know like all the political parties etc, but i suppose i'm a liberal or whatever becasue i don't like Bush? okay, have you not seen the man? he so closely resembles a monkey....it's crazy. i don't see why we can't simply state our opinions....why not? free speech right... so... puh if you dont like what people like to say about your monkey *** of a president...then just don't listen!!!! its not that hard...if you dont like what people say..ignore it! duh! and chill not everyone likes Bush ya kno... not everybody is going to like him JUST because he's f-in president...why take a monkey in office so serious?

I think it's part of a liberal creedo. They can't think of why exactly they have no respect, so they resort to lame put downs. The fact is Bush is a strong leader who doesn't back down from whining liberals. He will do what is right even if he is not wholly supported. That earns my respect.

Newsflash to Cons: he ain't king yet, an I'll call him whatever fits-if you can't see a chimp, then you must be a republican/conservative/facist and that would explain the complete and utter lack of a sense of humor

Showing respect for the office and respect for the man in office are technically different.
Also, it is part of democracy to show dissenting opinion. So how dare you not understand the democratic process?!

Yeah, let's not insult the poor old chimps. What have they done to deserve that kind of treatment?
One can respect the office without respecting its occupant.
