P of a tri is the measure of 3 sides ....

x for the equal sides .... (x-8) for base ...

side 1 + side 2 + side 3 = Perimeter
x + x + x-8 = 3x - 8

taking the the 2 equal sides = to x
therefore, the base is = x-8
perimeter =t
x+x+x-8 = t
3x-8 = t
x = (t+8)/3

the base = [(t+8)/3] - 8 inches

Let x = length of one of the equal sides.
Then x-8 = length of base
So perimeter = P = x+x+x-8 = 3x-8
If the perimeter = Z, then 3x-8 = Z
x = (Z+ 8)/3

Do not type your whole question in the tittle box please.
Would you retype it please?

Any way, if the perimeter of the triangle is P, then

P = base + 2 * side
= (side - 8) + 2 * side
= 3 side - 8

=> side =( P+8)/3

If you know P, plug it in and find side

One equal side = s
Two equal sides = s + s
Base = s - 8.
t = s + s + (s-8)=
3s - 8

i'm not sure because the question looks incomplete but i think what you want to use is this

x+x+x+8 = p
3x + 8 = p

use APE to get rid of eight then divide by 3 to get x

go back to the original representation and replace the x

hope this helps

perimeter = short side + 2 (long side)
short side = long side -8
long side = short side +8
perimeter = 3x short side +8
perimeter - 8 = 3x short side
(perimeter-8)/3 = short side
(perimeter-8)/3 + 8 = long side

Your question got cut off, please write the rest of it. If the perimeter of the t . . . . . . . .? Or if that's all, then it doesn't make sense.
