Well that's not Congress, that's only in Vermont. Congress isn't going to impeach anyone and they had not even thought about it for a few reasons. The Democrats just took the House over (Republicans would never impeach their candidate). Plus wartime is not the best time for a political party to get their point across by impeaching the President. But regardless of whatever Congress etc does we the public had our chance for change and voted it against it when Bush was RE-ELECTED. So as much as I dislike this President we the public deserve this idiot for being the bigger idiots and re-electing him.

Nice to see you are back. Looks like you took a week or so off. I don't think I could leave my YA addiction that long.
About your question. I saw the news article today and was wondering the same thing. I heard Speaker of the House, Nancy Polosi, say the cost had reached over $1 trillion. What have we gotten for that. The dollar has fallen against the Euro and other currency. We have our brave solders being used as target practice. Iraq is worse off then at the end of the invasion with more people dead, more unemployed, and more without power and water. The world hates us, or at least the president. We are loosing our freedoms.
Bush thinks there are terrorists there. Well, like the weapons of mass destruction, are they really there?
Well, I've ranted enough. I already know that you are smart enough to fill in any blanks I left.

There have been very few presidents impeached in this country. The only two I know are Jackson and Clinton. Nixon resigned before he could be impeached. So what did Bush do to be impeached?
Here is a little history lesson for you:
Andrew Jackson was impeached because he fired someone who was appointed by the senate. The charges against President Johnson stemmed from the Tenure of Office Act of 1867. This law, which the Supreme Court declared unconstitutional in 1926, required the president to get the Senate's permission to remove any officeholder whose appointment it had to confirm. Sounds very similar to what is going on with the attorney firings today.
Bill Clinton was impeached for lying under oath about his sexual relationship with Paula Jones and Monica Lewinsky He was also disbarred for his actions.
The Vermont legislature is basically wasting tax payer dollars by their non-binding vote.

They are better of not doing it. The more scandals the better and besides it would get in the way of bringing our people home from Iraq. As long as Bush/Cheney are in power we will have more scandals. They don't seem to learn the lesson from the past. These scandals are merely fodder for Democrats to use against Republicans in next year's elections. Perhaps we will see a Democratic landslide like 1964 when Lyndon Johnson defeated Barry Goldwater by a landslide and ushered more Democrats into seats in both chambers of Congress.

What is said in Vermont is irrelevant. There is never anything serious coming out of Vermont until they clean up their act.
Remember Vermont? The state where the governor and judiciary support pedophiles? That man raped the little girl at least 50 times and he got 60 days! The governor and the judge should be on trial. So who cares what those jokes and losers think? There are more grounds for sending the whole, disgusting, perverted pack of them to jail than impeaching Bush.

Because the Republicans controlled both houses of Congress for the last six years and gave Bush and Cheney carte blanche to do whatever they pleased. They have been wrong every single time and failed the American people again and again and again - Osama bin Laden is still free, we invaded Iraq for no reason at all, we still aren't conserving oil and are funding our enemies in the process, New Orleans remains a wreck, the justice system has been turned into an arm of the RNC with a mandate to persecute opponents, and on and on.
Impeachment is long past due.

..Let me put it to you in this way
Voice your suggestion to have your boss fired, or your teacher fired or your best friend removed from your inner circle. Now ask yourself if your job/grades/circle of friends is in jeopardy.
It's best to know the downside of a possible outcome before initiating something that is sure to cause controversy...no matter how gallant your goal. Impeaching a President is a difficlut task and should he not be impeached, my friend there are retributions galore....there are skeletons in every person's closet.

first of all there was no way it could happen with the Republican controlled Congress. Now that the Democrats have control it is more likely. However many Democrats would prefer to work together with the White House rather than rehash past misteps. I don't know if there is enough support for Vermont's State Senate call to impeach Bush and Cheney or not, but I agree it is long overdue. They have grossly mismanaged their positions and have compromised public interest for their own benefits. The war is a disaster.

Vermont? LOL, it might as well have been San Francisco coming out and saying Bush should be impeached. They're left wing nuts and everyone knows it.
To answer your question though...high crimes and misdemeanors must have been comitted for an impeachment to take place. Like with Clinton for example.
Put it this way, you can say over and over that Bush is a criminal or w/e, but believe me....if there was a shred of truth to it, the liberals in the senate and house would be all over it. But they're not. Now make up your mind why Bush hasn't been impeached based on that.
