.....and then realised that you've probably done more in that day than if it'd been a normal week day?

Errands, chores, diy, favours for other people, etc etc

That describes my "days off" perfectly! I end cleaning my entire house, digging up weeds from my front yard, raking the yard, cleaning my car... all on a day of vacation!

But, hey, at least it gets done...

I took a year off work hoping to rest and decompress. Well, I built an extension on the side of my house, stained my fence, which took me three months because it was raining every day, washed the driveway, trimmed the trees, cut the grass twice a week, washed the windows from the outside and then decided to wash the siding while I was at it, painted the garage, rearranged the shed, levelled the fence, cleaned the BBQ. When I was done, I really needed to go back to work just to get some rest. I never work this hard on a 12 hour shift.

Oh yes. I used to work about 60 hours in a 5 day week. Then I had Sun and Mon off. Sunday I'd do absolutely nothing, I mean NOTHING. And then Monday was cleaning the house, laundry, bills, mowing, everything. And the next day I was back at it. Somewhere in those two days off I worked on restaurant stuff from home, lilke new recipes or changing the menus or the bills for that. So aside from Sunday, it was never-ending. Which is why I allowed myself a Do-Nothing Day.

Yes, sometimes I take a day off just to do that. It makes me feel fulfilled if I do that. There is nothing better than a clean house, errands done, and you can just sit back and relax. I'd hate to take a day off work and just sit around and do nothing. I'd be bored. Sometimes I do take days off to go on vacation, or a day trip or pursue a hobby, but that's different. That's actual planned vacation, not just a day off.

Everytime I take time off work. there is always so much to be done, clean the house, sort out finances, clean teh car, do the food shopping, cook my freezer meals, and then a decent evening meal, do the washing. Gee I'm tired just thinking of days off.

If you're doing errands and chores then it's not a day off in my book.

Sounds like all my days off ... it's good to get back to the calm peace of work where I can secretly skive off on Yahoo Answers.

Yes I have. After a couple of those kinds of days I am ready to get back to my regular schedule so I can rest.
