Thas is SOOOOO funny that you ask, because just last night, my husband opened a new box of Cherios, and he shouted..."LOOK....A TOY!!!" And we talked about how long it's been since we have seen a toy in cereal. I think it's probably because everybody sues people now, and the cereal companies don't want to get sued for someones kid choking, because their parent wasn't watching them. Plus, anything small enough to fit into a cereal box, is probably most likely going to be a choking hazard. It was pretty cool though. My husbands toy was a little flash light that you can clip on your ear, in case you want to read or need a light while you doing a small repair. He was pretty entertained by it for a while! LOL

Yes, such a shame, but must be down to the EU. Choking hazards etc.
I used to love the toys in the cereal boxes. Sometimes, the whole point of having breakfast was to get the toy! : )

probably because the toy makes the child not want their breakfast and some kids will just want their mums to buy it for the toy even if they dont like the actual cereal

I don't think that todays kids would be very interested in little plastic toys, they seem more interested in playstations and ipods.
I did see some cereal with a free DVD in the box this last week.

Hey. I say a commercal just last night advertising some Shrek 3 lights in a cereal but I can't remember what cereal. Kix maybe. I suppose they were probably tired of getting sued by some idiot parents who let their kids choke on them.

probably because small parts are considered dangerous to young children, and it would cost them a fortune in legal proceedings if their was a child who choked on or had some other accident with the toy.(Can you imagine eating your cereal and swallowing a small toy?)because you didn't realise it was their .SCARY

Some lad mistook the toy for an oddly shaped piece of cereal.
That was a shame...
