A power unit is there by the bank of the river of 750 meters width. A cable is made from power unit to power a plant opposite to that of the river and 1500mts away from the power unit. The cost of the
cable below water is Rs. 15/- per meter and cost of cable on the bank is Rs.12/- per meter. Find the total of laying the cable.

Total distance from power plant to power unit = 1500m

Distance across water = width of river
= 750m

Distance across land = remaining distance
=1500m - 750m
=750m

Cost of cable below water = 15 x 750
=11 250
Cost of cable on land = 12 x 750
= 9 000

Total cost = 11250 + 9000
=20 250

I am assuming that the cable goes directly from the power plant to underwater so that 750 m of the cable is underwater and 750 m of the cable is above ground.

Thus total cost = 750(15+12) =750*27 = 20,250 Rs

Total length of cable = 1500 m.
Total length = 750 under water and 750 m on the ground
laying = 750 ×15 + 780 × 12 = 750 ( 15 +12 ) = 750 × 27 = Rs. 20250
