Because they place them in the same category of a fashion accessory, like a Prada purse.

Well lets do the math.
They are still teens and all teens like to brag about something.
Now they are mothers, what mother is proud of her baby?
If they have an attitude it is most likely because allot of goodie-two-shoes like to think and brag about how they would or could never do that - "Oh I'm above that". And they get it from all ages, sexes and races.
So they are young mothers desperately trying to defend themselves and their littlies.
I don't condone this happening, but it does. So I commend them for doing such a great job.
Wouldn't you rather see that then them bragging about how many abortions they've had --- or a young mother not loving and protecting her child?
You didn't mention the father in all of this.
Funny, I rarely hear of them bragging about a child or asking his girlfriend having an abortion.
Though I do here alto of young fellows bragging about how many times they have scored!

They might like to brag because they may be the only one of their friends that have one. I'm not a teenager (I'm in my 20's) but I have a daughter. I brag about her all the time. Shes so bright. I dont know if I would have bragged about her when I was a teenager but I probly would have. I love her more than life so I want to talk about her all the time and yeah most of it is bragging. Bragging is a parents right. : )

I never heard of any bragging except on those day-time television shows because they are prompted by the staff....
How can you judge all you mothers? I was a young mother and I am on my way to med school. I come from an educated family. So, to judge all by a few idiots is pathetic. What about the young fathers? nothing to say about them huh?

I agree with one of the answers that at least they were responsible enough to keep their child and raise them instead of abortion or abandoning the child somewhere--and you should not judge anyone else unless you personally have been there. Teens having kids have to grow up quick and miss out on a lot of things.

What should they do? Not develop a bond? Not dote on their children. Teen mothers are mothers just the same. They shouldn't treat their children any different just because they
gave birth as teenagers. What a stupid question.
And to some of the people who gave dumb answers - you guys are just as stupid. A lot of teen girls have sex - A LOT! But not all get 'caught'.

is there a certain age one must be to have a child?
I agree that you are still a child when you are 16 (for example) but that does not mean that you will not be a good parent.
there are people who are 25+ who have children and they are not good parents.
i am assuming they are proud of having a child, just like anyone else, so they talk about their child.
what is wrong w/ that?

I was a teenager when I had my first baby.
I bragged about her then and continue to brag about her because she and her sister are the best thing I ever did.

i think they should brag, they should be proud that they opted to have their babies rather than abort them. i am all for a woman's right to chose. i do NOT think the govt. can tell us what we can or can not do with our bodies. however though i'm pro choice i think abortion is a cop out in some cases.

Did you know there are more babies being born in America out of wedlock than to people in 'wedded bliss'?
