depends on who you ask.. if you ask the left wing wackos they say no...
and call it bushs war...

even though every member of the left voted for the war and DEMANDED it... and called bush names for not going sooner..

if you asked the people on the right... they say yes we are winning...

I asked my friends over in iraq the answer I get is this...

if we stay until it is done.. 1 or 3 more years.. and the policially jackass stay out of the way.. we will win..
if the troops are forced to come home early.. then we will lose..

this is the only war in US history that has lasted over 5 years and we have only lost 3200 troops... which in itself is amazing.

we have made it so women can vote.. and go to school... a new nation has been born and they are working on it..
some people say they need to stand up now and do it them selves... those people are stupid... we here in America had 300 years to make it right.. and we are still working on it..
in a few short years iraq has

elected a new gov, <-- all sides have a say
voted on a const. <--- all sides like it
trained about 25,000 iraq militray personall
opened over 300 schools
the new business started by women has reached over 2000 never happened in iraq before

over all yes they have problems... but give me a break more people died in the US last year with drunk driving and drugs than died in the iraq war on the US side in 6 years... that is AMAZING..

so to those that say.. we shouldnt be there.... and it is all bushes fault... better look back.. because the following people moved bills in congress and troops and where heading for war before bush ever got elecrted

Clinton
gore
boxer
kennedy
kerry... but he voted for it and against it
every DNC member in the house and senate..

some even called Bush a coward because he didnt go to war for over 18 months while we yelled at the UN for doing nothing..

all and all..... the left wing crybabies cowards and the right winging wackos have messed this up together.. but we can still win it..

A few days of being distracted by VT hasn't changed the inherent mistake which we call the Iraq war. Nothing's changed. We didn't belong there before VT, we don't belong there after VT and this is one war that even if we win, we lose.

A friend of mine used to be a Marine Special Forces commando - a very highly skill and extremely elite combat unit. #2 on speed dial from the Oval office. His brother is a contractor in Iraq now - going from base to base to set up secure computer networks. He is getting paid $250,000 for a year of duty. If he makes it back to see his new wife and kid, all their financial problems will be solved. I would call him a winner - but if he dies, maybe a loser. His sister was DOD civillian contractor and personally interrogated the senior Iraqi leadership. She is tired of 'destroying' and wants to now train to be a yoga teacher. My friend himself definately believes there is no way to win definitively. Supposed the 'war' was won, but we failed to keep the peace and it's degredated into a civil war. If you get in middle of civil war, you will be shot at. Largely Shite Iran wants greater influence, Laregely Sunni Saudia Arabia wants greater influence, it's a proxy influence war. Democracies are also a particular threat because the Islamic values are very strict and Democracies promote liberal ideas of sex, etc. and the violent segments of society don't want that so they are are 'arch-enemy' because they feel that we are imposing ideas upon them they don't want. They are willing to blow people up for that. Anyone seen as helping government which they see as puppet of US. They either all must be killed or they will have to compromise to get along in a political system.

I'm in the middle east you are losing and I feel sad for all the lives lost everyday from all sides.
There are daily average 15 US soldiers deaths in Iraq only. I don't know enough about Afghanistan

I suggest, go there and find out personally because just like everything else, the media is not the best source for information.

What's really going on with the war? Our children and their children are dying.
Are we winning? No body wins in a war. It's a lose lose situation.

Looks like we are losing. Hard to win when the enemy is not easy to identify.
