Walls in Baghdad? This is absolutely the last straw for America!! The US is desperate now with even thinking of such an assinine idea!! I almost don't care what Saddam Hussein did as a dictator. The actions of American occupiers have destroyed this country. And we call them insurgents? For Christs' sake I'm beginning to think these insurgents are just actual regular civiliams trying to defeat Americans who created this division in their society. Iraq, I am so sorry!!

Didn't work with the Berlin wall - the cold war raged around it. Didn't work in Belfast and Derry - the troubles carried on. Didn't work in the Jewish ghettoes in rennaissance Europe - pogroms were still frequent.
Isn't working in Palestine with the wall the Israelis built - it's increasing hatred between the two.
Putting up a wall just makes a physical dividing line between 'us' and 'them', making compramise and peace even harder to achieve. It doesn't get rid of the problems, merely hides them.

A gated community at US taxpayers’ expense with US troops as security guards -- sounds like an excellent idea for fostering better sectarian relations. Wasn’t there a similar barrier in Tal Afar? That one worked well – for a while.

A wall will just temporarily subdue the problem, not eliminate it. Honestly, I doubt there is a way to get these people to stop fighting. All I know is, we can't do it.

We need to be building this wall on the Mexican border instead of Baghdad.

Hey, Georgie! this is not what is meant by "mending fences". why not extend it to connect with the US/Mexico fence and call it the Great Wall of Bush.
