I can't remember the name of it, but it was italian and the cheapest meal was around $30. It was very good. As far as the best food, I found it does so much have to do with price. I stopped at a mom and pop restaurant coming through Ky one time and it was the best breakfast I had ever had. Price for two of us was $8.00. I had to leave a $10 tip it just didn't feel right doing otherwise.

For sure it all depends. At Texas de Brazil here in DFW area, dinner is $50 per person w/o drink or dessert. It is a Brazillian style steakhouse that is all you can eat. The servers come around with various meats as long as your green card is up. There are some cuts that taste so incredibly great, you feel it is worth every penny. Sometimes the cuts aren't much better than a cheap gas station steak!
Now, for steak only, I would definitely pay a much higher price (say $40 or so) for an incredibly tender steak than $15 for a same size steak prepared incorrectly or of a cheaper quality. Kind of like going to Ruth's Chris vs. Chili's (although chili's can do a good steak).

It was Oregon Electric Station. It was outrageously prices and the food really wasn't worth it at all. They had a very limited menu. The selling point of the restaurant was that it was made out of old train cars. Too bad there isn't enough room for very many people to eat in the train cars so you end up just sitting at a regular table in the normal part of the restaurant. So you end up paying all that money for nothing. It is really stupid.
Sweetwaters was the same way. They had like 5 things to choose from on the menu and it was outrageously priced. The food was awful, too.
P.S. I live in Oregon.

You can get lucky with good or decent food for cheap but to me cheap to me is like $5 bucks a meal. A normal decent meal can run around $9-$15 per person but the best place I ate was the Melting Pot or even the Mai-Kai. Both atleast $50 a person but their food was great. So was the setting, music, service and all. Expensive food isn't going to be found in some dirty shack, you know? but, yea, I believe you get what you pay for.

I remember it was a steak place called red knaps. They had steak and other things. I had a pasta thing with shrimp in it and I have had steak there. Both were almost $25. I am not rich and usually the resturaunts I go to the food is under $10. I think that the food wasn't that great for that price I could have go the same thing for $8. I have found sometimes the cheaper food is better.

The most expensive place I've eaten at was Pre-rouge. It must be my fav restaurant since it is good value. The food was fantastic.
I think prices and the quality of food are not related in any way. The best food may not be the cheapest and the most expensive food may not be the best.

Can't remember the name of the place but the food was great, probably could have fed a third world nation for a week though. I've had a great feed at many less expensive places

Refectory the name of the super expensive restaurant in my city. Yes it is worth it. It's more about a service than a food.
The service is exceptional. Yes the food was incredibly delicious. But since I can't afford going there with my family, we took advantage when my hubby's vendor took us. LOL
Some restaurants just overcharge much, but the food is as good as in any other decent restaurant.

Tribeca Grill... and the food was good, and someone else was paying...
As for your other questions... more money does NOT promise better food... there are places that serve good cheap food... but some of the very best, tastiest food I ever had was at a higher priced quality restuarant... with top grade chefs instaed of "cooks."
However, there are some places that overcharge like hell...

Sketch in London, it was insanely expensive and i wouldn't consider it to have been worth the money, but then i've never had expensive taste when it comes to food and I wasn't paying!
