I'm looking for restaurants in the Montrose or Heights area of Houston that have good gluten-free vegetarian options (I do eat eggs and dairy). So far, I can eat at Chuy's, La Tapitia, and Hickory Hollow. Any others?

Thanks in advance!

I'm not a Vegan. I eat eggs and dairy on a regular basis. No fish or animals of any kind, though.

And in answer to Aspicco's question, gluten is a complex molecule found in wheat and several other grains. It's found in all bread products and many other things as well (from soy sauce to processed cheese). Unfortunately quite a few people (including myself) experience health problems from eating gluten-containing foods.

Ziggy's Healthy Grill on W. Alabama and Greenbrier. Great food I love their trio-fries (potato, onion and yams). They also have a full bar and non-veggie options.

Whole Foods Mart has a in store cafe also with good food. There is location in River Oaks (not far from Montrose) Kirby and W. Alabama,

And have you seen the huge salads at Barnaby's? Talk about a pile of rabbit food! These things are extra extra large. There are 3 locations near Montrose.

I travel to Houston every 6 - 8 weeks and am vegan .. so I can tell you some places that have vegetarian choices , but you may have to ask about gluten free (although most I am sure will have that as well) Vietnamese food in a shopping center directly behind Hollywood video rental on WestHeimer by Waugh Drive ...., Indian food Madras on Kirby and 59Th has great lunch buffet ...., Mexican food Berry hill in the heights and montrose that has bean/corn tamale that is great ..... Asian food Wonderful vegetarian restaurant ... Middle eastern food La Fendee in Montrose on WestHeimer ..... another middle Eastern Cedars on Richmond west of Montrose has a better selection .... Hobbit cafe off of Richmond in Montrose ... If I can help more let me know ..

Baba Yaga's is wonderful! I am a meat eater but go Vegetarian there. Really good food, lots of choices, wonderful ambiance. I think they have some outdoor dining too. Moderately priced, good for budget dining. I think they are on Montrose. And since you are NOT Vegan, check out the desserts!

The Outback Steakhouse has many gluten free options---just skip the steak. Also, Chili's has gluten free items. Likewise, Carraba's Italian Grill. These three restaurants have many locations throughout the city.
For a less formal treat Wendy's has GF options also, and many of the Blizzards at
Diary Queen are also GF. Enjoy!

Try Taco Milagro on Kirby and Westheimer. They've got a gluten free menu and several vegetarian items on it. Enjoy! Their # is 713-522-1999.

I'm not sure of many, but a great restaurant you might want to try is: Daniel Wong's Kitchen. It's not exactly located near Montrose or heights but it's worth a try! Very healthy as well.

Try A Moveable Feast: It's in the UPTOWN Houston area on W. Alabama I think. Good luck.

Katz' cooks Kosher. They're strict on their cooking and should be of assistance. Eatzi's near the Galleria on Post Oak and A Moveable Feast are others.
