Did you by any chance have a theme program installed that made your XP installation look like LUNA from Windows Vista? I had the same problem a few days ago and had to use the recovery console to uninstall it before my computer would reboot normally again.

If all else fails use safe mode to diagnose the problem.

Hope this helps,

It sure sounds like the battery is dead, and the laptop is shutting down because of it.

If the problem was in windows it would not shut the computer down, it would just freeze or stop, but not shut down.

I believe your battery is bad and can no longer hold a charge, or your power adapter is bad.

Check your power supply to make sure that AC power is being properly supplied to your laptop. See if the little power symbol on the laptop lights up, that will let you know if power is flowing.

Leave the laptop off overnight, and charge it overnight., making sure that the power is flowing. Then try again.

Before you blame the recovery, have someone check out the system and make sure it's not overheating. Could simply be that the fan has stopped working. Make sure that there is air to the vents, too.

its either a virus or possibly the power supply or motherboard battery.

most likely if it is a virus you might need to do a check if not just go to the website or call the makers of your computer
