There are so many great ones!
For a bit older: The Changeling and Don't Go To Sleep (may have a hard time finding this one, but it's good if you can), The Omen (NOT the remake!) and Damien Omen 2.
Newer Stuff: Session 9, The Descent, The Hills Have Eyes (remake...disturbing AND edge of your seat), Blair Witch Project (more psychological, however).
For "hack n stacks slashers": Wrong Turn, Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original or even remake depending on your tastes), and any of the classics (Halloween, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, etc).

You asked and so you shall receive. I know the cliche answer is either "The Exorcist" and "Psycho" <-- which both are the farthest things from scary except for perhaps the writing. Do you really want to be creeped out after watching a movie? Like seriously scared? Then I have several recommendations for you not in any particular order..
1) Event Horizon
2) Blair Witch #2 Book Of Shadows
3) House on Haunted Hill (1999 Remake)
4) The Thing
If I can think of more I will post them but these will definitely creep you out.

Have you seen 'The Descent' it is quite jumpy and good to watch.
Try also Saw 1,2 or 3 it is nasty.
