Ok, perhaps I should have worded that differently.....instead of saying "most women" I should have said "Most of the women I know". Also, note that romance is in quotes......that doesn't necessarily mean all out sappy love stories.....hence why I put it in quotes. I'm trying to word things so I don't get this question deleted LOL.

it depends on the words for me. most romance novels are way too cheesy, and they portray men and women in hokey, non believable ways. not that I am SO stuck on reality that i can't imagine, but if you are selling your characters and not the sex, then make them and their story worth reading.
Erotica is good stuff. for the most part. again, it depends on the words. if its too straight-forward and basic ("I stick thingy in her ***, go pound, pound, pound"), that kind of crappy writing will bore me. but if the writing can paint a visual picture, then i am COMPLETELY turned on. there is a line of erotic literature, short story compilations called "Taboo"...the writing is excellent, the stories are exciting, and yet its all hard core porn. just really well written.

Maybe because theist is pronounced differently to atheist. The atheist makes the ei sound like "e" instead of "a" but I'm not totally confident that that is the reason. Perhaps it is true, as creatrix suggests, that atheists are for some reason better spellers. If it were it would certainly result in atheist being spelt incorrectly more often as atheists use the word theist most often while everyone uses the word atheist.

First, the words 'most women' sounds like a generalization unless most you know are or some respected poll says they do. To me, the greatest love story I ever read was 'Dr. Zhivago'. If it is a great rather than a trivial romance story, we all should get excited.

Yes, if it is told by a nice seductive girl. I went to vist my girl friend while she was baby sitting. After the kids were put to bed she picked up a childrens book and started reading it outloud just above a whisper. The way she read it was very seductive. She didn't change the words but OMG if we weren't in someone elses house, I would of made love to her right there.

I get excited reading my Daisy! She's more than a "novel" idea! Her "forum" is so well written, and her "romance columns" are enough to DRIVE ME THRU THE ROOF! Who needs some smutty "Porn mags" with their HOES, when I have THE BEST "read" on earth!!! In MY "book", she's not only at the "top of the list", she IS the list! And that "book" is: "How to Make Love to a Woman Named Daisy.....Spirit, Soul, and Body, All Day, Every Day"! I LOVE reading that book! It's a "best seller" with me! (I love that woman!)

I'm not most women, I get excited when I read Forum. Let's get straight to the point, same way with porn, I hate it when they make up some stupid plot.

saying wink, wink, this is just for you. is a good way to get attention, but you can put a little more passion than that into it

Sure. Men can be stimulated by the written word too, but we tend to be way more visually stimulated.
