There is no way this man is a coward. He got letters everyday saying that they were going to kill him if he came to the park and he would play anyway. Hank is owed an apology.

Rob Parker, a black guy, you would think that he would know what Hank went through.

First of all during the era that Aaron was playing was probably the most difficult era to play in besides when Jackie played. Through all the insults he had to deal with he produced one of the top careers in baseball. Being able to go up to the plate is one thing but play the way he did was another. I really would like to know the name of the person who said this so i know what kind of person would say such a thing

Aaron is not a coward he never took steroids and dealt with racism his whole career.

Rob Parker is so right on this topic. Hank Aaron is a coward because he won't tell us the real reason why he will not attend the Celebration of Barry Bonds passing him on the home run list. If he think Barry Bonds used something he should just say so. He can show up for the Jackie Robinson Game but not support or Call Barry. That B.S. He is full of it. I would respect him if he be honest and say why he won't attend the celebration. This has nothing to do about what he went though. I respect what he did for us black people but he is acting like a spineless punk. Just move out the way Hank because Barry is better than you and he move you record out the way.

I think Jay Mariotti of the Chicago SunTime says stupid things to draw attention to himself. But I think this guy is just speaking his mind and saying what he believes. I don't think Aaron has to say anything about his record being broken, since it has nothing to do with anyone but Hank. So I think the writer is wrong.
What I found interesting is this guy is talking about unity and staying strong together in the community - then calls Aaron a coward. Not a wise was to tie up ends.

The reporter needs to find another job! Hank Aaron went through all sorts of bigotry and was a class act all the way through it! I wish we had role models like Hank Aaron today! The world would be a much better place to live!

The Detroit writer is an IDIOT who is merely trying to start controversy to bolster his own failing career. If anything, Hank Aaron is an American hero, a legend in his own time, a man to be respected. As a ball player, he was sensational. As a person he is all that embodies excellence in a human being and in a great athlete.

Chow!!

So this guy says Aaron should "take a stand" one way or the other regarding Bonds? Why? I admire Aaron. Everyone knows he thinks Bonds is a grade-A douche bag, so why shouldn't he be diplomatic about the whole thing?

That's it: he's not a coward, he's diplomatic.

Aaron would not even ask this man for an apology. He is above that. Aaron was not a coward. If he was a coward he never would have broke the record.

While there is no doubt that Hank is not a coward I would suspect that your quote is taken out of context and was not intend as you portrayed it. Everyone of us has done cowardly things from time to time, sometimes selfish other times out of fear that doesn't make us cowards and I doubt that writer was addressing Hank's character but more a specific act. That writer is entitled to an opinion and we are entitled to disregard him.
If this statement came as a result of Hank's refusal to attend of comment on the pending fall of his record, that is a selfish cowardly act but Hank is not a coward. Hank owes a lot to baseball and regardless of the trial and tribulations he faced he should show enough class to congratulate anyone, even Bonds, on breaking his record.
