Or is this just a witch hunt because the Libs cannot find anything constructive to do like fix social security or fund/defund the war?

JW - you failed to answer the question. The Judicial Officers work for the Executive branch and the executive branch has the right to hire and fire as they please. Congress do not have any right to know anything about this. Take a civics class.

Witch hunt.

They say the war is lost but don't have the resolve to defund the war.

So, in frustration of their impotence, they waste tax dollars and time acting like they're doing something constructive.

I'm not quite sure because as usual the Media is just making it seem like a big circus without actually reporting any facts...I think it has to do with the firing of 8 attorneys that someone thinks may have been politically influenced, ie, the attorneys in question weren't "going after" certain Democrats that the White House wanted them to..however (and I'm one of those horrible Libs you speak of) during the Clinton administration, he actually fired ALL of the attorneys, as we should all try to remember, these attorneys ARE for the Presidents pleasure, and he can fire as many as he wants! So I'm not sure why this is such a big deal, it's just "politics as usual".

Perjury - same thing that got Slick Willie

Violation of the constitution - separation of the judicial and executive branches of government - using the judicial branch for political purposes.

Civil violations - Libel and slander (impuning the perfomance of someone when the facts prove otherwise.)

And if stupidity were a crime, they'de go after them for that , too.

And by the way, Arlen Spector has been one of the most vocal critics, and he's a Republican (for whom I have always voted) He's a lawyer, a constitutional scholar, and the former district attorney of Philadelphia. A man with a true respect for the law.

This is a witch hunt,Gonzales did what he is empowered to do;hire and fire.To try to criminalize this is analogous to going after a CEO for firing people.
This is a very destructive tactic and if the Republicans ever begin to retaliate--it will be nasty.
Let it get nasty,then.
The nation will not rise or fall because of this, this is politics.

I haven't heard them say he committed a crime, nor is it much of an investigation. They are simply asking what went on in firing people for their political beliefs.
For example, if you got a job and a short time later your boss fired you for being a republican. Your boss may not have broken a specific law in doing this but he may have broken some moral standard long held to those in his position. Were this to happen to you, would you not want questions asked of your ex-boss? I should think you would be screaming from the roof tops.

Either he lied to Congress about his earlier involvement in the "Firing Scandal".

-or-

He is so out of touch with running the DoJ he should be removed for cause (ie he delegated serious policy matters to assistants instead of handling the cases (firings) himself). The AG should be making those decisions and not staff.

Gonzales has offered BOTH excuses on record.

Next question.

**REPLY**

Ken should prolly take the civics class. Lying to Congress is a crime:

Read USC Title 18, Part I, Chapter 47 Section 1001(a)

I answered the question so don't blame me for your ignorance of the USC.

Next question please.

There is no crime .They want to keep a cloud of suspicion over the white house through the election. Democrats cannot win elections on ideas so they try to bring the other side down.

This is a return of soviet style show trials such as the one that took down sen. J Mc Carthy for his defense of the US against communists in the government

It's slowly emerging but what I've gathered is that removal of these prosecutors was an effort to change the course of cases they were working on such that they benefited republican interests. I'm hoping more specifics come to light rather than just these broad brush concepts. time will tell.
