Started on a 2003 Suzuki SV650S. I learned respect the first time I twisted the throttle, and it was unfortunately "totaled" by my insurance company last year when I got boxed in and brake checked.

But the gear works, and there is a reason for wearing it. My reason was that I was back to work the next day and had no major injuries.

I now ride a 2006 Kawasaki ZZR600 as it is a couple grand cheaper than a ZX6R, R6, etc and isn't stolen as much if at all. It still hauls @ss, and though it takes a bit more effort I can still take freeway exits at 80mph. Very stable and fun to ride.

first bike was a HONDA CG-125
Then; HONDA VFR 400 (NC30)
after that; HONDA CB750
then for a while; SUZUKI GSXR600
subsequently; TRIUMPH Daytona (T595) [What a bike!!]
But now ride; BMW GS1200 Adventure

Had a lot of Hondas. No special reason, they were just a good deal available at the time. But they were nice, reliable bikes. Crashed SUZUKI after 3 weeks...Whoops! Triumph was my favourite. Distinctive yellow. Lovely to ride and look at. My BMW is practical, economical, and great for camping and shopping... but I miss my Trumpet when I see sport bikes fly past me with my grandad slippers!!!

A Laverda RGS. One of the fastest things around in the early eighties and still pretty fast today. It's great to ride, and the RGS is a big heavy motorcycle, but it oozes character and is a great rider's machine. It has one of the best fairings ever made and you can cruise all day at 200kph plus (well here in Germany you can) and when you get off feel quite fresh (and still do something about it).

What do you ride? You never told us.

I ride an MV Agusta F4S. Best bike I have ever had an superb on track days the handling is absolutely sorted.

Before that Kawasaki ZX9 R - Like driving a boat.

before that Yamaha FJ1200 good all rounder, poor ground clearance

before that Laverda1200 Mirage Bloody fast for its day

before that Ducati 900 GTS Good handling, smooth not fast enough

before that Norton Commando 850 Mk2 Fast, handled well, but kept blowing up.

First bike Honda 250 G5 Perfect bike to learn on.comfortable and fun.
