I don't think it ever was in control. On the world scale, there is no one in control.

This sort of thing happens now and then. It're regrettable, but there's not much that can be done about it. Putting an armed guard in every classroom, or even just one in each building, is impractical. The same goes for putting airport-style metal detectors or security stations at all public buildings. And it's almost impossible to put someone into a mental hospital unless they are an extreme danger to themselves or others, and they make credible threats against someone.

Could this have been handled better? You bet. But hindsight is always better than what you see at the moment. You and I were not in Blacksburg, so second-guessing or judging the people who were on the scene won't help. The best we can do now is to study what happened, and see where we can improve the process to prevent this, and to help the survivors and the families pick up and move forward.

I think the press is negative, so it's hard to see the positive things that happen all the time. That shooting was an act of mental illness, which is a reality of life. I try to think in terms of the ying and the yang. The world wouldn't balance if evil didn't exist.

The question I feel, is really, how much will people take before they complain or protest? I feel that people outside of the US will protest. But personally in the US, if we are talking aggregate 300 million, I really feel like it's me alone, writing letters to Senators and Congressmen.

The World is totally in control, but the control does not lie with us but with the natural instinct each and everyone has inside themselves.

Counting out policies and government our world is actually in control of commoners, and every common person is contolled by their own gut instincts and stuff.

You can control your own life but the rest is just luck, You can never be sure when some guy gets mad and crashes a plane into a building or kills his girlfriend along with 3 dozen others,
The best you may do is hide in u'r house basement. But still someone may nuke you.

So basicaly "your present" is in your control but you cant be sure if a stray bullet rips through your window right this moment right into your brains. So Live and don't worry.

The world is always in control. It's just that some of the people are not. As crazy as it seems, the world is in balance and for every evil person, there is a wonderful good loving person out there who becomes discouraged by the bad news that the media spoon feeds us. Don't worry there are just as many of us as there are of them. We just need to stick with what we believe and we'll do just fine.

When has the world EVER been "in control"? Today is the anniversary of the birth of Adolph Hitler. Wars and killings and horrible acts go back as far as recorded history.

There is nothing new in our time except that we get the "news" faster and in more forms. Whether that is good or bad is open to debate.
