i personally have no opinion to this, so it would be interesting to hear what others feel towards this question. I can look back at history and think of all the bad things that have happened because of a monachy, but also the good that its done for tourism in this country today.

I am from the UK and I think that they should keep the castles and all the land for tourism and drop the monarchy crap as it is a complete burden to the taxpayers and a bunch of these free loaders that have been living off the public money and their very very extended families all the way to the earl of earls and the duchess of walmart should all get cut off and get a real life job to support their freeloading lifestyle.. I doubt they ever could survive, but who cares as they are actually stealing the public cash and as all the public sees that all the government is just as bad too with all their raises and expenses that are all tax free and keep getting higher.

In the present day I don't think it really matters. Now that the U.K has parliment. The King/Queen doesn't have sole power of the country. While the Queen does do some stuff, she is more seen as a symbol of England.

No, it's good to have a politically impartial head of State who has that job for life. No need for messy elections or nasty personal election campaigns. The Head of State also doesn't have to campaign every few years for re-election.

I don't live in the UK, but I'd say the monarchy there is like the flag over here--we can hate the government all we want, but when we need to feel patriotic, we will rally 'round the flag, or cry out "God save the Queen!"

England tried that over four hundred years ago - and ened up with a tyrant.

Any political system has it's flaws, on balance though I think this one works best.

Yes the same way as USA would be better off without a Whitehouse and a president.

Ooh and we have a racist (Lone Wolfe) on site. Yes in my opinion we would be better with out the monarchy. Look at all the money that goes to support them that could go to other resources that would benefit us, what do they really do for us, the peasants. Nothing

YES...But you'll never convince the Brits of that. They like giving their money to a bunch of lazy misfits. Dianna's death was the only hope for the royals and now she's gone.
