Both, but mostly that he's looking to attract a girl friend. Bubble nests are sometimes used as a territorial marker, but even then it's also a display of his readiness and ability to breed.

Bubble blowing is totally universal Betta habit. It potential he's healthy and happy. I feed my Bettas 4-6 toddler pellets as quickly as an afternoon, without nutrients sooner or later a week, and that they stay an undemanding of five years. I additionally on no account use mirrors on them. It stresses them out, in the event that they react to it. sounds such as you're doing a quite reliable activity. reliable good fortune!

It simply means that the water conditions are right for him and for breeding. Dont just rush out and get him a girlfriend though. There is TONS of things you would have to do to breed him and a lot of heart ache to follow. They are not easy fish to breed and raise to adult hood..they arent like guppies or mollys..
Simply if your male builds a bubble nest he is happy, mature, and the water is great...don't worry about destroyinmg his nest with a water change..he will build a new one. Shaz

A bit of both. When a Betta blows a bubble nest it means he's happy and settled...and wants to breed.
He's happy forever blowing bubbles though, let him do it!

It's more of a territorial thing. Bettas aren't very social in nature. (Basically they build a nest, and mate/beatup any females that come along.) My males aways build nests after their weekly smack talk session. (They do seem to enjoy getting their mad on.) Some are really into building nests. I wouldn't worry either way.

He is definitely looking for some lovin! That is what males do when they are ready to reproduce. They make the bubbles to protect the females eggs.

Time to look for a couple of girlfriends, though you may want to get informed, Betta's are as aggressive with their mates as they are with other males.
