In real life I manage a finance department, but on Yahoo! Answers I can act like I went to medical school. It seems to me the person you should be asking is your doctor.

Its really ironic that I stumbled on your question, since I was on here looking up answers to my problems with my tubes. I got my tubes cut after I had my second child 4 years ago and since them I have become quite well read on the subject of having your tubes cut and burnt. My Dr didn't explain ANY of the long term side effects of the procedure. I love not having to worry about another baby, but I am SO sorry that I had them done. Look up the side effects- they include death of your ovaries, hysterectomies, tubal pregnancies and what I suffer from which is the most common- a severe bleeding disorder. If nothing else, do a quick Google search on the side effects. They are pretty impressive and not well disclosed in the Dr's office. If I could do it again, I would use an IUD.

The reason women have tubals is to prevent pregnancy. If the tubes are tied, or cut/burned this will keep sperm from the egg and egg from the sperm. Everyone on this answers column always points out that there can be failures with tubals or vasectomies, true, but, they are extremely rare. I suggest you sit down with your doctor and discuss your concerns, I'm sure you are worried over nothing.

If you are married, have you considered asking your husband to get a vasectomy? It's the male equivalent of getting tubes tied or cut. A vasectomy is actually safer for a man than ligation is for women, and, it's reversible. So if you guys decided later to have more kids, the procedure could be reversed and you're back in business!! Plus, after he has a vasectomy, you guys can have unprotected sex without worrying about pregnancy (after he goes to his follow-ups and makes sure the procedure worked - it isn't an instant fix!!). Also, having a vasectomy doesn't affect men's sex drive. So maybe you should explore this option?

No, you can't get pregnant after you have your tubes cut and the ends burned. So you can't get a tubal pregnancy.

I have/had a family friend who died as a result of her eggs building up inside after a tubal ligation and she got ovarian cancer. Women don't reabsorb thier eggs like guys can reabsorb thier sperm.
Have you looked at other ways to ensure long term birth control..like Implanon that lasts for 3 years perhaps.
sorry I know that didn't really answer your question....
