Definitely no! As it is too rough and it may cause bacterial infection too. Use either toilet rolls or water will be the best to maintain good hygiene purposes :)

No I haven't ever used News paper. I don't recommend trying it either. The ink will get on your privates and cause a UTI or infection.

Bathroom paper at the Dollar General Stores (if you have dollar stores) are only $1 for four rolls. Which is very, very cheap and much better then having ti wipe on news paper.

If you cant make it to the store just find an old shirt or something that you don't want but make sure it has been washed and is clean, get some scissors and cut it into many, many small sqaures and use that to wipe with. You can even recycle it by washing all of them together in the washing machine and drying them and keeping a certain bag to put them in after each use. You can add as many as you'd like to your 'collection' of cloth wipes. You can acutally buy cloth wipes and cloth pads. I actually prefer cloth pads. I have home-made 15 pads myself and have spent $0.00 on pads for 2 years. Use and Wash and helps the enviroment!

Eeverett is right. The Sears catalog was handy. I heard the "slick" pages were a little bit of a problem... I don't know if the ink or paper was different from modern-day newspaper and ink or not.

I also heard they used corn cobs, but I can't imagine anyone using something that rough! (Maybe the corn was still on it?? I never thought to ask!)

I remember once using leaves when I was in the forest - but I digress.

You can always use Kleenex tissue.

Couldn't hurt. My great grandmother said when they were kids and had to use outhouses they use to wipe with Sears Catalog pages so maybe the ads in the Sunday paper may work better because the ink doesn't rub off.
