when you have a stock...let's call it ABCD....then it suddenly changed to ABCDE...what does the E mean??

The "E" suffix indicates the company is delinquent in required SEC filings.

5 letter tickers traded on exchanges are generally mutual funds. Over the counter stocks also have 5 letters, so it could be that your company got de-listed. Nasdaq stocks tend to have four letters, and NYSE listings tend to have one, two or three letters.
