I live in a rural area and yesterday as I walked to the store, on the boulevard across from my house there were approx. 60 - 80 robins on the ground feeding or in the trees. I've never seen this before, has anyone else?

Yeah - they flock up in the winter, so they've probably just returned to your area and will disperse to establish territories. A sign that spring's here, eh? (I'm assuming you're in Canada because the Robins have been back here in the mid and northern US for weeks now.)

I don't think they flock like the other post said. They're in abundance right now so maybe it looked like a flock to you? They're all over my lawn and my neighbors lawn's right now. In fact, 2 males were fighting on my driveway just a little while ago. They are probably looking to establish their territory.
