Ok so i'm doing an american history project where we have to make a poster board of a mock newspaper summing up a decade. I chose the 1980s. We have to include special features such as ads, so I figured i'd make one for the original Chrysler minivans (i.e. 1984 Caravan and Voyager). The problem is: Did Chrysler Corporation have a slogan that encompassed the entire brand, something like Ford's 'Have you driven a Ford lately?', but for Chrysler products?

I remember Lee Iacocca saying "If you can find a better car, buy it". I have owned Chrysler products since 1986 when I bought a new Dodge Ram pickup. I never had any trouble with the truck in the 3 years I owned it, Not even a squeak. I now own a 1991 Chrysler LeBaron LX, a 1992 Chrysler LeBaron convertible, and a 1994 Dodge Shadow ES. All these vehicles have over 150K mi on them and still run & drive great. I do have the occasional bit of trouble, but what do you expect from a car this old with so many miles on it?

These cars are very well designed and executed. I just wish folks would put credit where it's due. Chrysler did need a bailout, they were not the only ones who benefited. We got the M1A1-Abrams tank (built by Chrysler) which is still the best offensive/defensive machine built. We also got a lot of Dodge trucks at a great price for Government use. Chrysler Corporation paid those loans off 7 years early. You can't say that about all the other folks who owe the USA money! If the German investors would stop looking at Chrysler as "the red headed step-child" maybe they would get more out of Chrysler, as a partner, instead of running the corporation into the ground.

Dodge also used something about "american driving machines" too.... And I'm pretty sure that they had a specific slogan for the minivans - but not sure what it was...

for John - our "ASE Mechanic" - they were not poorly built and I don't know where you get your info from but there are still a hell of a lot of 80s era Chryslers on the road... I still see 80s generation Aries and Reliants, LeBarons and Horizons and Omnis on the road in car central So Cal...

And heada - try and do a bit more research... the LOANS that Chrysler received in the 80s were COMPLETELY REPAID - and EARLY - by Chrysler.... Can the same be said of all of the other government bailouts over the years...? Don't we still have the effects of the S&L bailout from the 90s...? And Daimler may want to sell Chrysler because they don't know what to do with Chrysler.... Since the merger, the product lines have lost much of their appeal and style.... they've been made to feel and seem "cheap" in comparison to what it was just 10 years ago.... Luckily, Daimler has chosen to not touch their cash cows too much - the Dodge Trucks, Jeeps and the Sebring convertible still have a lot to offer...

The US government bailed out Chrysler in the 1980's and the dodge company sold milions of aries k cars to the us government. The invention of the mini van saved the company. I remember an actor Recardo M. saying this Chrysler has rich carenthan leather. Most 1980 cars were cheeply built and almost none survive.

it should have been "thanks for bailing us out of debt again, taxpayers" (again, as we did it in the 60's. chrysler has always been a sinking ship, that's why mercedes wants to unload it)
