singing...?

when i was younger, i taught myself to sing quite good, then i gave up on it after a while. Now i want to get my voice back, does anyone have any useful tips? I want to teach myself again..

I recommend that you start singing easy songs that you know well. Do it often and record yourself if you can. Listen back and keep practicing get used to using your voice again. Don't try so hard. Many people sound bad because they try so hard to sound good that they end up sounding bad. When you sing think about the emotion of the song and what it means. As you progress move to songs that are harder for you and learn new ones as you go. You can always find a vocal coach. who will go through songs with you and work on styling so you sound great.

yeah.. hum(looses the throat and gives you clearer tone)
do free style beats (helps with consistency of vocals)
tap your fingers while you sing a basic beat(helps with pitch and rythem)
Or you could, now this is going to sound weird, put your hand down your pants Al bundy style and sing( what this does actually is applies pressure to the diaphram and gets the notes out, helps build your strength in your vocals by strengthing your diaphram and adding "soul" to your music for better control)

well singing or "your voice" will never go away just pick a song you realy like and simg it if you cant just keep going if you truly want to sing again your heart will help out
