A man whom i had romantic past with keeps in touch thru mails consistently for more than 3 years now. He lives on the other side of the world.

It would depend a lot on what his e-mails say. Does he mention anything about your romantic past or say anything about getting together again sometime?
If his emails are just sort of I am passing this joke along to you or it rained here today then I would assume that there are no particular romantic feeling for you. I email a bunch of people I have known in the past and have no romantic feeling for them.
If you think he has feelings for you, next time you email him ask him when he is going to be back to take you to bed.

He is probably just being friendly cos if he really has feelings he would have told you i think, don't keep holding on to him, sounds like you stil have feelings for him and you should try to move on also instead on hanging on his every e-mail, he moved away so he didn't have that much feeling for you.

He`s just keeping his options open. He`s probably has a wife and family. He must have been a contractor. They all eventually go home. Forget him!
