how do i find whether a menu item has submenu ?

My question is not client side. By using vb 6.0 i create a menu to my application. Now i would like to find whether a menu item has submenu items at runtime by using my vb program

Hover your mouse pointer over a menu item, and the sub-menu will appear.

If not, click on it and sub-menus will appear, if they exist.
