There are no better places than south of Sydney in the Royal national park- any of the beaches in the park or towns such as Stanwell Park , Stanwell Tops is a popular place for hang gliding with rugged coast and magnificent ocean views.

Sydney is on an east coast so any point where you can see the horizon would be good to watch sunrise. Start with any of the ocean beaches.

I don't live in Sydney, but I'd be asking a taxi driver or at the hotel about where to see the best sunrise. I'm sure the best places to view the sunrise.
