I chickened out at my own supposed wedding. I'm still in a daze thinking why oh why i backed out. The guy and i are no longer together.

You did it because you subconsciously knew that either you were not ready, or the guy was not the right person for you. Congratulations for having the courage to do the right thing. Just think, you and he could be married and miserable right now!!

I think the biggest reason they back out is because of the wedding day jitters or fear of the future. They realize that the big day has come and suddenly they are scared sh*tless. It is like oh my gosh what am I letting myself in for. I don't want to be tied down with children for the rest of my life. I am too young for this, help, let me out of here.

The groom in most cases goes through the same type of fear. It is a loss of freedom and a commitment and a whole new life style. The enormity doesn't really hit until the day of the wedding and the ceremony is about to take place.

The things mention above go equally for the bride or groom.

In some instances when the bride or the groom is jilted, a civil ceremony is performed later. Once in a great while another wedding date is set. Usually once it is called off these two people go their separate ways and marry someone else.

Is it a good thing that some of these marriages are called off at the last minute? It is hard to say. It is quite an embarrassment to everyone concerned and a large expense for nothing for the bride's family. Perhaps in some cases it saves getting a divorce later.

Mybe you got a doubt or luck of trust.Maybe in your mind that when you married this guy you cannot do what you like or you stuck with him for the rest of your life. I think its not your time to settle down yet. When you ready and the right man come you cannot say anything than to say yes i do without any doubt. Good luck..

Deep inside people can feel that they aren't ready for marriage, maybe feel that the person they are supposed to marry isn't "The One" for them, or sometimes its just that marriage is a heavy commitment and just plain scared.

Because those girls came to the realization that the guy they were going to marry is either not really for them, or that they are complete a**holes. Who wants to spend the rest of their lives with an a**hole? Not me.

I think most come to the realization that they are "settling", and were just liking the idea of loving being in love, and not being practical.

You're the one who decided against getting married. Don't you know what your reasons were yourself?
