Wow! I'm with you, but I don't think we're anywhere near ready to celebrate any achievement of Science & Technology quite yet. After all the Muslim and Christian worlds are currently in a battle to the death. Will S&T (thermonuclear war) smash us all to smitherines? The war between religion and Science is far from won. As for me, I go out daily preaching the gospel of Humanism and Evolution.

Reports of God's death are greatly exaggerated. The "unstoppable progress of technology" has simply led to more efficient ways dispatching human lives using gas, WMD, and "safe" abortions (really the only medical practise widespread in the Western world where the death of a human is not only guaranteed, but the stated aim -- but euthenasia is next).
So the religious have "peddled hatred and vioence", eh? What of Stalin, the atheist, responsible for about 35,000,000 Russian and Soviet deaths? Or Mao-Tse-Tong, who caused the deaths of 80,000,000 of his own people, and equated genocide to the mowing of a lawn, as it all just amounted to the rearranging of atoms from living to dead? Or PolPot, who, proportionately, was worse than all of them? Or the eugenics movement followed by the Germans, Swedes, Americans, Australians and tacitly agreed to by Britain, in the 1930's, all stemming from Darwin's "survival of the fittest leading to better and better species" nonsense?
Well, some follow false prophets, the most influential of whom is Mohammed (now awaiting the second death), but the Bible's prophets gave prophecies thousands of years ago that are still coming true today.
Actually, it is BECAUSE the West has taken a protracted holiday from the belief in Christ that the West is in crisis today. And ALL prophesied in the Book of books, the Holy Bible.

In "Idealism as Modernism", it is noted that there are various downsides to technology, such as the change in accountability and the increasing gap between the technologically illiterate and the deskilled labour force. There is also the tendency to depoliticise discussion so as to convert it to merely the manipulation of signs and symbols. The massive amount of data storage capacity on individuals is also of concern.
In "Sociology of Eating Disorders" or some similar title, by Liz Frost, technology is noted to have contributed to an idealised trim, taut and terrific outline for girls to follow.
Technology interferes with a mother's right to enjoy her own pregnancy and own children. The rest is just people intimidated out of their own rights from even before they are born, unless the parents are prayerful. Where do you think post-natal depression comes from? Mothers are not simply messengers of glad tidings. They are the maternal parents of children. There is no need to build up ceremonies of worship around them (Colossians 2:18). They are still human beings themselves, fully competent and with a fair few years of life skills on them by that stage, even if they are young.
Genesis 6:4 might be talking about doctors taking over pregnancies and then receiving praise for it! Dionysus' dimeter birth seems analogous to the modern corporate and medical system claiming glory for the birth of healthy babies into the population. Children are an inheritance from God. Superstitions have always arisen from, not so much a lack of understanding about where the trouble is coming from (big-head technologists who don't know what patient's rights are), but lack of knowledge about how to face the mighty foe of Spartan idiocy (they used to throw weakling children on the slopes of Mount Taygeto to die). The answer is prayer. God loves children and parents.
There isn't a single soul who has any idea what the future will bring. James 4:14 says that we are but a mist. We do not know what tomorrow will bring. If we show love and faith, pleasant surprises happen when it seems that all hope is lost.

Well yes...I pretty much agree with you 100%.
There is one difficulty however. I truely !00% believe, know, that their is a God. I am not religious and completely concur witrh your views on religion, but that does not rule out the existance of God. religions constantly fail to understand Him or describe Him or His nature properly. He or She is probably assexual by the way but these are details. I dont know and its not important.
I know there is a God because when I talk to Him he talks back. When I ask for something He/She/It gives it to me
I'm not a nutter either.
That is more than can be said for the Yoga nutter.
That is so typical of Religions. " You can only know God through this way" Utter small minded stupid nonsense. What they mean to say is that they can only know God in that way. And are so stupid and arrogant that they dont understand that God manifests himself in many ways forms to many different cultures beliefs.
Nevertheless it is the same God. and the Yoga pillock should know that.

I don't think that destroying our planet for the sake of the coin is anywhere near stupendous achievement. The more we seem to know, the worse it is for us. But I do agree that corrupt religious leaders have been a major plague to humanity for the most part of our history. The trick is to separate their false hate filled doctrine with the one given to us by God.

Sorry for you and praise be to God that His Word will NEVER die, for He is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End.
May His wonderful name be praised forever.
Yes, my friend, one day every knee, including yours, will bow and say that Jesus Christ is LORD.
