undereating...gaining muscle...doing heavy weight training and not enough cardio...
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
dont try to lose more than 1-2lbs a week - its not healthy to lose more.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried - no junk food.

Muscle weighs more than fat. So especially if you just started working out recently and/or you do a lot of lifting, your fat is burning away but muscle is replacing it. I fought with that for years. I'd be in excellent shape, but still a little overweight. Try focusing completely on cardio for a couple of weeks and see where that takes you. I also highly recommend taking spinning/cycling classes. You can burn 500-600 calories in a 45 min class. Plus, you can go at your own pace, its a great class. That's what finally did it for me. Make sure you take lots of water though, and a towel if the gym doesn't provide them.

If you are female, could you be pregnant? I read a story about a woman who didn't know she was pregnant until she went into labor. She said she was exercising all the time and still gaining weight...which made sense to her once she realized she was pregnant.

That can happen. Definitely watch the carb intake (grains/fruit/honey etc) and make sure you're not over doing it. Sugar, even natural sugars in grain and fruit can encourage people to gain weight or store fat.

You'd do better in actual fact on more protein and healthy fats. Fats help you lose fat believe it or not. Low fat or not fat diets are bad, they cause hunger, empty calories and do not line your stomach or satiate your appetite, but instead they are often the cause of overeating and further storing of fat. I remember going on a low fat, no fat diet and I gained more weight. I found out not only did it cause me to be more hungry and crave, but that they replace the fat with more sugars to compensate for flavor. Sugar is the reason for storing fat and often upsetting blood sugar in the body.

People seem to think if they avoid fat, they will lose fat and often they gain and continue getting frustrated as they watch their apparant efforts fall apart. Healthy fat is only helpful and healthful. The bad fats are the hardened vegetable fats/oils and trans fats. The good fats are animals fats like butter, lard, and also having olive oil, cod liver oil, coconut oil, any fish oils.

So do not be afraid of fat intake (only the bad fats). Avoid too many carbs and sugars. And walking / rebounding are often the best exercises and losing weight comes naturally when doing this. Overexercising like aerobics actually caused me to gain.

Also, believe it or not, some people gain weight from the amalgams in their teeth. THe mercury contained, can be a real problem with some people and weight gain can be quite a classic symptom in some. Others can get underweight.

SO if all else fails, you may want to look into it. I had my dental amalgams replaced and my previous weight issues appeared to resolve. I've heard this with others also. It maybe a long shot, but it's something if you reach a wall.

It depends if you have any other symptoms ?
Read up on tyhriod complaints this can be a common cause of a slow metabolisim . I dont think you indicate if you are a male or female , Hypothyriodism and problems with the tyhriod are more generally womens complaints , but it does occur in men .
The thyriod if malfunctionoing creates problems in other gland s which contribute to wait gain . Get all this checked out if you are REALLY concerned.

i live in the u.states and we have the fattest people over here. i used to be thin, but i wasnt working for a few months and u wouldnt believe how much weight i have gained, i am not obese, but i definately need to lose 20 pounds. i know that drinking alcoholic drinks puts on weight and u might have a thyroid disorder. normally when people are serious about dieting and exercising, they do lose weight, so u may have a problem with your thyroid gland. i would ask a doctor to test your thyroid.

Maybe its a glandular prb or down to your thyroid, maybe you like a double sized plate rather than a regular?

Or it could be the fact you like your beer..if your a larger drinker or a cider man...either way over 300calories in a pint of larger and over 400 in a pint of cider...Stout and Ale are less but in large Quantities just as bad...
Also if your eating late at night it won't help no matter how much exercise you do...

You must remember that you have something called a thyroid gland. If you thyroid gland is under active, in other words your metabolism is slow, you will not loose weight. So go and have your blood tested for you thyroid, and if your thyroid is under active you can use medication to speed the metabolism up.
Also, you must drink at least 8 glasses of water per day for that will also speed your weigh loss up.

How much weight are you gaining per week?
Are you doing alot of Strength training?
What is your daily calorie intake?

All questions need to be answered to offer a real productive insight. : )

You need to create defincieny with the amount of Calories you eat, vs what is burnt daily through natural body functions (even at rest) and through exercise.

considering using sites to track your weight

Sure!!!! There may be tons of sodium in it - and the factitious sweetener just isn't excellent for you! Drink water or unsweetened tea. Additionally - the "fizzy" in the soda really make your stomache higher - pour a bottle of soda in a balloon - tie it up and shake it and see what happens. That's what happens for your stomache whilst you drink soda. If you want flavor on your water - squeeze a lemon, orange or lime into your water - or all 3 - its ordinary and the lemon and lime are additionally usual diuretics - they are going to help you with the water weight.

Depends on what type of exercise you are doing.

Some excerise mainly causes you to become stronger and build muscle rather than burn fat. As muscle is heavier than fat, if you are weighing yourself, you could be gaining weight even though you are getting slimmer and more toned.

Bizarly, your weight is not a very good indicator to how much fat yuo have.

Also, look at your healthy diet as it may not be as healthy as you think.
