Whenever I had pharyngitis as a kid I also would get sinusitis and I would get a lot of draining in the back of my throat and a horrible sounding cough when it came to symptoms. Every time I got this combination I had to be on antibiotics for about 7 days.

It can take about a week or two to clear up but because it's been 10 days I would go ahead and get back in touch with the dr to let them know that you are having this burning feeling in your throat still and see what they think.

If you have already consulted a doctor, why are you not on any antibiotics? You should feel better even without any medication after 10 days. Do you use your voice alot? If not, then I think you may have other problems with the same symptoms like gastric reflux. I think , the best thing for you to do is to consult an ENT and do a scope. No pain at all. They just spray some anesthetic through your nose and let it flow down the throat. Then they insert a scope leading to your vocal chord and you see everhting through the screen.. It it is indeed pharyngitis, then he will at least prescribe you the appropriate medication. If not, then you could be suffering from other ailments like the reflux of gastric juices to your throat which gives a burning sensation. Taking medication will solve this problem. Usually, a pill like Nexium or Romesic that controls the production of the gastric juice. Please do not delay as both problems could lead to something serious over time. 10 days is a long time for any recovery even if naturally. If you do not like the idea of specialists, try some antibiotics from your family doctor. If it is indeed some throat infection, it should disappear so you do not need to worry any further.

A burning acid feeling in your throat to me sounds like gastric reflux...try taking some Tums.....see if it goes away.
Otherwise, some viruses last about 2 weeks. If its not better in a few more days, go back to the doctor and have him/her re-evaluate.
