No, the book of mormon is a lie that some guy made up. The Holy Bible (KJV) 1611 is the only truth you will ever know.

No, they are different texts. The Bible is generally considered to consist of the Hebrew Bible (or Old Testament) and the New Testament. The Book of Mormon was written by the founder of Mormonism.

Kinda. The book of Mormon has a lot of the contents of the Bible copied into it, but it also has some Shakespeare and a bunch of anachronisms.
The teachings of the books are different about salvation and a number of the cardinal doctrines.

When Mormon missionaries (properly called Latter Day Saints or simply "LDS") come to your door they will often offer a free copy of the Book of Mormon and tell you about its author Joseph Smith. Smith, they will say, translated the Book of Mormon from golden plates he dug up in a hill in New York in the early 1800's. This is supposed to confirm his calling from God as the new prophet on the Earth in these latter days (hence the LDS title). Further, they will tell you that the Holy Ghost will confirm the truth of the Book of Mormon truth by producing good feelings in you. Next will come the invitation to "Read the Book of Mormon, pray, and ask God to show you it is true." Of course you must do this with sincerity or it won't work.
Before you fall to your knees, there are some things you need to know that they are not telling you (and won't unless you ask). The first concerns many LDS beliefs that separate them from historical, orthodox Christianity. These are not found in the Book of Mormon. In fact, there is really very little in that book that is doctrinally disagreeable to orthodox Christians. The real meat of Mormonism is found in their other scriptures, The Doctrine and Covenants and The Pearl of Great Price. These books, however, Mormons do not hand out at the door - and for good reason. If people knew up front what they were really going to be asked to believe (things such as God once being a man, denial of the Trinity, Satan being Jesus' brother, pre-existence of souls, etc.) they may not be quite so willing to put aside their skepticism.

If you are Mormon, you believe that it is "Another Testament of Jesus Christ" and believe it is nearly on-par with the Bible as far as truth and doctrine.
However, it is certainly not the same thing. The Bible is a collection of works from writers from Asia Minor and the surrounding areas. The Book of Mormon is supposedly a collection of works from writers in the Americas. The Book of Mormon was translated from gold plates left by the early Americans by Joseph Smith and published around 1830-ish. The Bible we know has been in existence for much longer.
In short: Completely different things, but if you are Mormon, essentially they serve the same purpose.

The Bible and the Book of Mormon mostly take place on different sides of the world. But, there are parts that are similar almost word for word, because the gospel of Christ is the same no matter what part of the world you are in.

Hi! First let me say... some of the answers you got were lies. Mormonism is one of the most misunderstood religions in the world! Other Christian sects hate them... without cause generally.
The Book of Mormon and the Bible are both written by prophets of God and therefore; serve the same purpose. They are however; different in the sense that the Book of Mormon came from the ancient peoples in America and the Bible is from ancients in middle east!
Btw: I'm LDS(Mormon) and the real name of the church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Have a supre dupre day! :)

The LDS church makes use of the KJV Bible and the following three books:
Book of Mormon
Doctrine and Covenants
Pearl of Great Price
The last three are not the same as the Bible or they wouldn't have their own names!
There are important teachings in these last three books that do not agree with the Bible's teachings. In those cases, from personal experience, the Mormons chose to believe their 3 books.
Please email me if desired.
I'll say this about the Mormons though:
Though the difference in beliefs is real, it is quite interesting to investigate!
It hurts no one to investigate other people's belief systems. The church of LDS has an HP here : http://www.lds.org/portal/site/ldsorg...
The main difference is that most of Christendom have traditions they believe in -- these came from Greek and Biblical sources.
All of the LDS individuals I have met have been very studious and Very Nice people. All the ones I have met have taken their religion very seriously. This too is different from the ordinary Christian one meets.

No, the Book of Mormon and the Bible are NOT the same thing.
They are similar though. the book of mormon is Another Testament of christ, in which Prophets of old Recorded their lives and prophecies and spiritual expiriences.
Joshep Smith did translatethe Book of Mormon, and did NOT pull it out of a hat.
And Mormons do not worship Moroni. We worship The god head, just as christians do. we are christian.

They are two separate scriptures and books, but both have the same purpose: To preach of Christ's gospel and divinity.
One is a history of the eastern area and one is a history of the americas.
