The European Union (EU) is a supranational and intergovernmental union of 27 states in Europe. It was established in 1992 by the Treaty on European Union (The Maastricht Treaty), and is the de facto successor to the six-member European Economic Community founded in 1957. Since then new accessions have raised its number of member states, and competences have expanded. The EU is the current stage of a continuing open-ended process of European integration.

The European Union, the "ever closer union," stated out as the European Coal and Steel Community - which was intended to keep France and Germany from going to war. It has grown from "the six" to now 26 countries and the theme is still peace, as well as human rights, and the four freedoms: the movement of persons, capital, goods, services.

this is form of a catch 22. An American Union could a great deal help each and every united states of america interior the Americas economically yet because of the fact poorer international places interior the Americas do no longer have faith the richer US it probable won't ensue each time quickly. NAFTA has worked out great for the U. S., Mexico & Canada (of direction Democrats will admit to that) and the ecu is likewise a great occasion of ways nicely Unions/loose commerce agreements artwork.
