Not necessarily materialistic things, more like love and the pursuit of happiness etc.

That's not qwuite how it works. You have free will to want/desire anything. It is finding what God wants for you which is the question.

Desire and suffering (for not getting it) is part of the Human condition.

Your question hints at the concept of Predestination. That is a subject debated for centuries. It is a tricky topic.

And you would not have to "wish" if you had everything God wanted you to have. See?

That would mean that my only desire is to follow God's desires for me. If I said that is my only desire, I would be lying. There are many times I desire or wish for things that I know God doesn't want me to have. However, I wish my desire to be that I would only desire what God knows is the best for me. I think I would be a more peaceful person if I followed that.

What I believe is that we should try to discern the will of God and then do that. Of course people are human and therefore not perfectly aligned with the will of God. We can only do our best.

Cheers :-)

no, because people are taught to want things, especially those who grew up in capitalist regimes, they are lead away from the spiritual path from the first time they see a barbie commercial to the time they buy a car a little bit nicer than their neighbors car

I would wish for it, knowing that I will only obtain it if that was God's will for me!

no. God most probably doesn't want me to have a new pair of shoes, but I still want them.

Not quite, I think it's not that black and white. We want what we want, God doesn't want to control that. He leaves it to us.
