If the tea party is in a garden - a must is flat shoes!
If in the UK - take a light cardigan or wrap.
A shoulder bag/purse so that both hands are free.
If the tea party is inside - a sleevless or cap sleeved summer dress/frock with no hint of cleavage - very non-u!
Hats are not common.
Always bring a wealth of witty stories and you will be a sure fire hit at any tea party. Remember - there will be no alcohol or at best - a light fruity wine and over indulgence will ensure no repeat invitations!
Good luck and most of all - enjoy! They are delightful!

It depends of course on the weather, but traditionally a lady would wear a frock around knee length for day time. If its summer something that is sleeveless is fine, but probably not a strapless one. If its cool, a little top over, or a cardigan is nice.
Because its during the day, I wouldn't wear a solid black one either. Better would be something with a little colour, and maybe some nice strappy shoes, or if its outside some nice flat courts (to stop the heels digging into the lawn).
If at all in doubt, ask the hostess, she will be able to tell you what tone she wants to set.
Any jewelery should be light and delicate, nothing too ostentatious, or flashy.
So go enjoy yourself and have a cup for me!

Think English garden party. Think 1950's-early 1960's USA, low heels, stockings, undergarments, tasteful, put together, coordinated accesoried outfit. Frilly, feminine, flowery dress, large brimmed hat, gloves. A soft, feminine suit would be appropriate if it is inside. If the dress is sleevless, and you are going to be inside, a cute little jacket or shawl for your shoullders would be nice.
Your daughter should do the same, a party dress, with some mary-jane type shoes. Soft, not shiny materials. Organza is nice.

Sounds fun. What I imagine to be worn at a tea party is: dresses...or skirts and blouses or tanktop...floral or spring colors. Yellows, pinks, blues, greens...more into the pastel colors. Perhaps hair done a bit nicely...curls or braids...or half up, with ribbons or nice clips. or a sun bonnet. =)
If you don't like skirts or dresses, how about a nice pair of pants (not jeans) and a shirt of some kind...remember spring colors or floral.
Have fun.

No need to overdo it with frills and stuff.
WEar a summery colour, white is nice.
A skirt just below the knee with nice sandals.
And a cap sleave shirt or peasant shirt or something
A nice summerdress is also good, pastel colours or a floral pattern, but you dont have to look like a christmas tree.
A light coloured or neutral pant suit is also nice.
Enjoy!

Wear a cute summer dress, and depending on the weather, you could wear a little button up sweater with it.

A nice, casual dress is fine if the weather is mild, a sundress is perfect.. Nothing too frilly or fancy. Just try to be feminine and polite.
Remember to have fun! :-)

Put her in a chiffone (sic) type dress! They are so beautiful! I'd also buy her white gloves and a pretty hat! She will look so cute and adorable! Lots of luck!
