Whether they realize it or not. If it isn't Jesus Christ they are making up their own God. Because Jesus falls short of their expectations of what God should be they make up their own God. They say oh but a loving God wouldn't do this, or that. You know what i'm saying? In most cases it's not that God doesn't love his people. It's that his people doesn't love him.

What do you think, why do people make up their own Gods.

Simple, because they want to do what is in their heart to do (wickedness and evil) they don't want the consequences. So they make up a God that approves of that behavior.

God is more than we can ever know. People want security and in so doing they starting getting ideas of what God is or is not. They start to see God like the people they knew as children, usually parents. You can always tell someone who had harsh parents, they are the ' you are going to burn in hell, God is going to get you' types. Those who had kinder parents end up seeing God as more tolerant and forgiving. We all end up worshiping the God that we made in our mind rather than the true God. We must let go of all that we think that we know about God and just let God happen in our live.

Because if people didn't make up their own gods then there wouldn't be any.

Most people need something greater than themselves to believe in. Most people need something to give them dope, I mean hope. All I know is most religions want to keep anyone from having any fun.

Religions exist as a way to keep a society in order.

Christianity comes from a lot of desert tribes. Everything focuses around all that stuff going on in the desert.

The Huaroni people down around Ecuador have their own set of deities that fit their rainforest life.

Okay its good that you believe in jesus there is nothing wrong with that but as you may know their are very different cultures that have their own religon and have had them before the days of jesus christ.i have nothing against jesus and the bible.we all have something we must believe but we cannot force each others religon on each other cause its up to that person to believe what they want.

Because we live in a cursed world where bad things happen to good people, and its sometimes difficult to really understand that God allows things for the good of those who love Him Romans 8:28 Also they don't intimatly KNOW Him, they are not reading the word daily and spending time with God so they make assumptions about what God should be like putting Him in a box and assuming He is not big enough to move mountians... we need to leave the world of adult reasoning and allow ourselves to go back to being that child who believes nothing is impossible with God and that He loves us even during tough times... did i totaly go off the track with this one, sorry im babbeling tonight time to go to bed... night!

They may as well make up their own gods. It isn't any better or worse than worshiping the ones that were already made up.

Not everybody believes in the New Testament. Atleast people believe in God and who is anyone to tell anyone who God is? It's all perception, isn't it?

Because they don't have the discipline to be the kind of faithful followers required by an established religion. i.e. they want to feel better about themselves as a result of their own short-comings.
