They began this week and said they could find no one to buy it and besides no one uses it any more. It has been destroyed! They are turning the chamber into storage space for the band. I am so upset! Why don't people like wonderful music anymore? What can I do to get a new pipe organ for the church? I have said that I would write a check for the $300,000 to replace it. They say they don't want it. I have gone to this church my whole life. None of the younger members will listen to me.

If the type of music played in church is really a key issue for you, you may want to consider going to another church.
But I think that we can all worship God with the music in our hearts. We are told to make a joyful noise to the Lord, and that David used every kind of instrument available to make music to the Lord in his day.
You could buy some CDs with pipe organ music if you really like the way it sounds. Blessings to you.

If I may humbly suggest, perhaps it is not the replacement of the pipe organ that is the central issue of your discontent. Perhaps, just perhaps, you are upset because your voice as a life-long member of this church is not being heeded, and you feel you are not getting the respect that is due an elder member of the church. You see the old passing away, and you fear that your voice is not valuable.
Well I can tell you that God values you greatly, and so too should the younger members of your church. I hope you take this issue to the Lord and let him deal with it. God bless!

Dear Herbert,
There are still probably more than a few good ol pipe organs in existense these days.
Granted.....it's NOT the music of our times, but you seem to really have a penchant for the pipe organ. It's true we should go to church and use music and and the instruments as a form of worshiping God and not let our focus be taken off the Lord. I say if you are that "into" your old pipe organ you could start your own pipe organ house of worship, but WHY? 300, 000 dollars would do a WHOLE lot of good for a whole lot of people! Use it for good! And not Tom Foolery! Amen.....? AMEN!
P.S. Spend a couple hundred (since price seems not to be an object) and get yourself a wonderful pipe organ/gospel CD collection!

Find out exactly what is going on at your church!

It seems to me that your church has gone down the way of the Purpose-Driven-Model Rick Warren corruption -- destroying all that is traditional to give way to loud band music, cosying-up to the worst of teenage selfishness, pandering to the moralities of the '60s and '70s, persecuting those who object (look after your own back here!), probably having some building plans so that outsiders can say "Lots going on there -- must be a growing church), crowd manipulation by evil Delphi Techniques, keeping the general congregation in the dark while obtaining loans from the Rick Warren Corporation, and many other concerns of Rick Warren churches -- see

put "rick warren tactics" into your search engine, and see especially "exorthodoxforchrist.com" and then go to "Purpose Driven"

also see www.spiritualabuse.com for some of the other evil techniques that such churches use.

The sentence that sums it up is:
"Temporary numbers -- long-term financial debt!"

Is your church like this -- if so, get the hell out of it quick!!

Times change. This is not your grandparents church anymore. If you want to attract younger families and children you need to have more progressive music. Besides, if no one likes the thing and it takes up space the band can use, I say rip it out! The church will be better for it, more spiritual, and with more families.

Oh great!! you will all be clapping hands and making a music "Kumbaiyaa" very rapidly. yet another church is making an attempt to attraction to human beings by potential of changing the organ with guitars.Have they nonetheless not found out this alienates greater human beings than it draws i in my view love pipe organs and the song they could produce whilst performed properly. although i understand they are incredibly confusing to play and the form of people who can do this's gradually diminishing. i could desire to spend all the money i had to to interchange/restoration it, yet I wouldnt then pick to hearken to somebody else taking part in it badly. i might recommend you purchase them a useful stereo and a few Bach cd's as a substitute
