Some car-parks specifically forbid it - you'd better look at the signs. And I agree if both you and the keys are in the car you are deemed to be in charge, whether you're driving or not, and can be arrested. Why not ask the landlord/landlady of the pub you're using if you can sleep in their car-park, and ask them if they would hold your keys until you're sobered up?
And have some breakfast before you drive.

If you are over the limit and have the keys in your posession you can be done for drink-drive. Even if your car is in the car-park and you're sleeping on a park bench! You won't get done for that very often unless the Old Bill is looking for a reason to take you in, but if you're sleeping drunk in your car and have access to the keys you WILL be done for drink-drive.
If you can't book an hotel or a taxi, skip the drink. It's the ONLY safe way.

If you are going to sleep in the car after you've had a few, ask the pub landlord to hold your car keys until the morning (i.e. when you're fit enough to drive again) ! ! !

once you sleep in a motor vehicle and have alcohol on your blood, regardless of the actual incontrovertible fact which you by no potential could have been using, do not flow to sleep sitting in the driving force seat. sitting in the passenger seat and leaning on the driving force ingredient may well be ok nevertheless.. as whilst it comes to my source hyperlink oh, and kudos to the others for stating keys - consistent with probability a magnet container to cover the keys decrease than the motor vehicle might do properly, yet i might additionally pick to characteristic information of possession of the motor vehicle - consistent with probability a registration (in the event that they have them over there) to be matched against your license
