What happens if bullets costs $5,000 each, handguns are $10,000 each & only the police/federal government were able to use them. How would society be like? I know people would start using knives and other ways of weapons.

If bullets cost 5,000 dollars, a blackmarket will appear and sell a box of 50 of bullets for 5 dollars. Demand creates, and there's enough demand for bullets to assume such a maxim true in this case.

I would rush and buy as many bullets and guns that I could get my hands on before the price increase. Also I would start learning how to use a crossbow.
By the way, Mexicans would then be smuggling bullets in condoms in the bowel of illegal immirants if that happens.

I think this is a completely idioitic solution... like most criminals that should people got that gun legally anyway... all that would do is leave normal people totally defenseless... the gang member that got his gun from the shipyard for $300 is armed but I have to pay $15,000 to fire one shot... come on... i say this owning no guns before someone accuses me of being a gun crazed NRA redneck... but i agree in the fact that this was derived from a Chris Rock stand up... just dont think its a good idea though ... criminals dont know what price means

If the waiting period was a year or something like that, someone would REALLY have to be angry at someone to shoot them. I mean, for $5000 for a bullet would make someone think twice, or a lot longer if they had to spend that much to shoot someone. Would anyone really wait 6 months to get a gun, then spend another $5000 for one bullet?

Fists and knives and bats would be similar to The Warriors. But then again, that's a movie, and real-life violence is stupid.

well since there are enough bullets already out in the public hands to last for hundreds of years some made back in the 1950s and earlier .lots of people know how to reload.there are enough guns for everyone now so that would be pointless.Only people like Phil Spector could afford new guns.

Sounds like someone's using George Carlin's material.

LOL!

I saw George Carlin use this in one of his televised HBO Comedy Shows. It however does make sense, but, was a hilarious way in which Carlin addressed gun violence.

The guy may be crude, but, he offers more common sense than the so called leaders in this country that don't have a clue!

Chris Rock actually suggested this...funny and poignant but seriously, do you really want your government to be the only ones with access to guns? I assume this means you trust your government?

Then not much would change for the heavy duty criminals like drug dealers and traffickers and the mob from any country on the planet. The only thing it would change is crime of opportunity, or low income crime.

I outsmart them! i have enough guns and bullets, to last a lifetime, or, a small war!!!!!!!! By the way, if they want to take my guns, they have to kill me first, and pry them from my hands. of course, that means they have been emptied, anyway!!
