The engines on the plane continually force new air into the system. The air outside the pgets thinner (less oxygen) the higher the plane goes. The air is breathable and has enough oxygen up to about 12 thousand feet. To keep it comfortable for everyone the air inside the cabin is pressurized through the engine to keep the inside of the plane the same as iw would be at 5 thousnad feet.

an airplane flying at high altitude is pressurized: it has enough air inside to permit people to breathe, and that air flows out in a controlled way, being constantly replaced by fresh pressurized air.
